More Laundry Progress

7 Feb

The laundry room is starting to come together! This is good… I’ll have to do laundry again soon! A lot has happened since we last checked in.

Here’s where we left off:

  • Empty the room
  • Move washer and dryer so we can tear down the platform
  • Build a dummy wall for the plumbing
  • Get a permit
  • Move some plumbing so it’ll be hidden behind the cabinets
  • Move the electrical so it’ll be hidden behind the cabinets
  • Find a sink and faucet
  • Drywall the laundry side
  • Find hardware

Last week we had the plumber out to work his magic. It didn’t take too long for him to get things re-routed and we passed our inspection a couple of days later! Of course this means the electrical got rearranged as well (and I wouldn’t be lying if I said more than once…). So, we started drywalling so the cabinets could get installed. And tonight, priming and painting the drywall… because…

The best part? The cabinet installer is planning to be here TOMORROW to get the job done!

Here are some pics of the progress so far:

Here’s a quick peak from the pantry side of things:

Our shopping has been successful, too. After perusing the tile section at our Habitat Restore, we found what we hope is enough (or close to it) 3×6 white subway tile from Daltile for the back-splash in the laundry room. They are bigger than what we used in the kitchen but I like the idea of keeping things a little different. We found some cabinet knobs, too- but not at Habitat Restore. We were originally thinking of some glass knobs we had found at World Market, but after perusing the selection at Hobby Lobby, we found some wood knobs we liked even more! Since we plan to have a wood seat on the mudroom side of the space, we thought it’d tie things together nicely. What do you think?

Sorry it's not a close-up. I was too lazy to change the camera lens...

So as this space starts to come together, we’ll have to start adding stuff for the next phase. But for now, let’s enjoy the completed to do list- it doesn’t happen very often!!
